    You missed the obviously most transparent speaker and the one that comes closer to the absolute sound : The Magnepan LRS (+) actually doesn’t compete with this list but in the high end speakers so you’ll need about a usd 10k system with it. Going to the 3.7s takes you to end game territory. Hmmm.

    I got the Elac 403 (well, 403.2) at sub-$2000 and I've been very happy with it. Aesthetics is pertinent to me since I'll be looking at the speakers the whole day and these sure are lookers. R3 Meta is definitely among the top picks but sadly it doesn't fit nearly as well in terms of dimensions (small desk lol). Thank you for the vids!

    I would make the claim that it is important to get manufacturer feedback on your measurements. I mean just look at The original Ragnarok from schiit Audio. Stereophile had a hard time getting a decent measurement out of it initially when they first measured it, but For contacting Jason Stoddard they found out that because of the internal chip based oversight management that the amplifier uses to control itself that was giving false erroneous readings when they hooked it up to an analyzer. So you see it's important to get that manufacturer feedback on your measurements that way you are providing accurate information. If stereophile just simply went with their original results the original Ragnarok would have measured terribly and only put out like 20 w when it's labeled as a 60 watt amp, you see what I mean. Yeah but on top of all that I watched his video where he talked about you and to be honest with you I didn't like the way he used the word amateur. He used the word amateur in a very negative sense and you could hear it in his tone when he said it. Almost as if to say you're a piece of crap no nothing reviewer who this is probably your first pair of speakers you've ever reviewed and you don't really know what the hell you're looking at or talking about for that matter, so why should anybody listen to you or agree or think about anything you have to say at all. That really put me off because if he did respect you honestly he wouldn't then go on to put you down you know what I mean. It's kind of crappy because I've honestly heard quite a few different of the company speakers over the years. I've never personally owned a pair but I've heard the double set and the Pendragon And of course the lore in all it's various forms, and I've always been thoroughly impressed. I wouldn't use the term blown away but I would say I've always been impressed and quite enthusiastic about their products. I've even recommended them to friends and people who were looking for relatively inexpensive speakers that were very high sensitivity if you were using a tube amp or a low wattage amplifier. Really don't know what to think about it now, I guess I'm going to start recommending the company Omega speaker systems, they make some fine single source loudspeakers at great prices too

    Pretty sure the KEF R3 Metas are out of stock everywhere in the U.S. right now. Looking forward to the MoFi 888 (floorstander) reviews which should be forthcoming shortly. I wish Mofi would do something about the aesthetics of their designs - I don't care for any of the any of the finishes, the baffles, or the grills. They're just ugly looking IMHO.

    Great list Erin. I've heard the Linton, the sourcepoint 8, and own the R3 meta. All are very good. The main difference to my ears is neutrality and timbre. Lintons being the warmer and smoother on midrange and highs, Sourcepoint 8 is slightly more neutral but still warm with more neutral highs. The R3 metal is by far the most neutral and sharper in the highs. All three need a sub for fuller bass. Thanks for your excellent for excellent sir.

    Great stuff man, I already knew you fancied the mofi 8 but it was great to hear you talk about it in comparison to the other top choices in the price bracket That being said is there really anything the kef has going for it relative to the mofi? Especially if the mofi is cheaper, has wider dispersion and they both need a sub anyways?

    • @ErinsAudioCorner
      @ErinsAudioCorner 11 годин тому

      I mentioned em in the video. Two things: 1) The KEF’s more narrow radiation may be a benefit to some rooms. 2) The ability to place the KEF very close to the wall. The KEF is also a bit more linear IIRC. But I’d have to double check.

    I buyed one of this some days ago. I only listen death metal, black metal, thrash, speed metal, lp´s, cd´s, tapes demos, not good recordings and not clean productions, sometimes garage sounds, ok, this little amplifier´s sound is amazing with those recordings, i use an Arcam Delta 290 preamp with 8ohm 80´s Mourdant Short speakers but even with those recording types the sound is great. I think it is a very good option for entry level, yes the 300w power is vapor info, but for small rooms it´s an amazing option.

    I have the Definitive Tech BP7000sc. Both amps failed! I just took apart the huge 65lb. sub-woofer and found a safety issue. They did not use standard T-nuts but only flimsy WASHERS as anchors for the 12 machine screws on the uber heavy SUB! Absurd. There are 2 amps in these called low level and a high level. Both need replaced or repaired. The workmanship is shoddy at best so sad as the design was great. What to do? Well for $300.00 we can mail both amps back to Denon / Definitive Tech for repair. I am doing that now... But after discovering the safety issue I requested a comparable replacement. Good luck with that on legacy speakers, but I am trying. Imagine if they only used flimsy washers as anchors what other crap they did on those failing PCB boards causing the amps to fail. Good luck! Call here to initiate a repair that will cost you 300 buks...they say they may not even be able to repair it though... Call the Denon support line at 1-800-228-7148. Honestly they should send comparable replacements.

    I drive these with a minimum of 10A power supply. 10*50 = 500 W 5*48 = 240w of true power. Any power you're pulling past that is in the headroom of the power adapter in use. No way a 5a power supply can give you the headroom you need to drive clean power. As the chip uses current the power supply will not be able to keep up, resulting Vdrop on the power supply, it'll easily clip below the chips ability to drive the output circuit.

    We went to a Guns n' Roses concert about a year ago. Axel's voice is done. It was really disappointing to hear him sing like that but it was still a fun concert with all the hits and more. Maybe soon enough a singer could sing and some AI voice modulator will correct it to it's original quality. For pop music where the emphasis is on the dancing and the show, lipsync and autotune are fine.

    Thank ypu so much for the video. You probably don't do requests but, was thinking the new Edifier S3000 mk2 could be interesting. They're reasonably priced. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the planar tweeter in them, which isn't that common in monitors, I guess. They also connect wireless between the two speakers.. 😊

    Things that make a big difference are few… for me they were… 1) Moving to a home with a big room having high ceilings 2) Getting a dead quiet DAC with transparent performance 3) using a dedicated power amp instead of the one built into my home theatre receiver. …all three of those things made a big difference, and did not cost much.
